Failure doesn't count unless it's the last time you're going to try.

Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be
an example to the believers in life, in love, in speech, in faith and in
purity.  1 Timothy 4:12

My "online" name is Katelyn Rebecca St. James (Kate to those of you who know me, no relation to the singer Rebecca St. James), and I'm a twenty-year-old Christian female from Missouri. If you're looking for pictures, you might as well go to someone else's site; I do have pictures now but I don't give them out to anyone unless I know them pretty well.

I still live at home, and I've been home schooled for the past two years through Heartland Christian Academy. (I went to public school before that.) I'm a senior in high school. I would have graduated in May 1999 if we hadn't moved, and I hadn't lost all of my credits for that year. I'm planning to take the GED sometime soon and then go on to college next fall, and major in business. My goal is to own my own Christian book store. My mother is divorced, and my younger sister is 16. We have a dog, too many cats to count, and an adorable dwarf hamster named Suzie. (And no, we don't live on a farm. We live in a little town of 5000 people.)

I have tons of interests. Some of the main ones include reading (almost anything I can get my hands on, but especially romances, mysteries, and Christian fiction and nonfiction), writing (letters, e-mail, stories, books), and music. I LOVE music! When I was in public school, I was in the marching and concert bands and I still play the clarinet, flute, and I'm trying to teach myself to play the keyboard. I like to listen to music, too, mostly country, pop, oldies, and Christian. My favorite singers and groups include Colin Raye, Tim McGraw, Steve Wariner, Chad Brock, Stephanie Bentley, Kippy Brannan, Mark Wills, Kenny Chesney, Michael Peterson, Restless Heart, Western Flyers, Backstreet Boys, Hanson, Savage Garden, Brian McKnight (the only song of his that I listen to is "Back at One"), Bob Carlisle, Jaci Velasquez, Point of Grace, Margaret Becker, and Steven Curtis Chapman, just to name a few. My other current passion is designing my own graphics, icons, cursors, and desktop themes. You can find links to some of the web sites I've created using my own graphics on the "Cool Links" page, but for this particular web site, I used already-made graphics. (You may or may not notice, but most of the backgrounds on this site have a nature theme: snowflakes, rain, stars, clouds, flowers. Compared to some of my other sites, this one is very light on graphics. I wanted it to be simpler and to load faster, though, and the mood that I wanted to set was better accomplished by not overdoing it with distracting colors, images, backgrounds, and animations.)

I also like shopping, computers and Internet, web pages, talking to other people online, especially other Christians and people who are curious about Christianity, TV and movies, the radio, children and babies, animals, the outdoors, autumn, spring, Christmas, junk food, cinnamon rolls, McDonald's quarter pounders, guys, girls, people who smile, sunrises, sunsets, stars... I collect angel and unicorn figurines, Native American stuff, hearts, waterglobes, porcelain dolls, teddy bears and bunny rabbits, books, and just about anything pretty, cute, or interesting that I can set on a shelf or hang on the wall. (My room is pretty crowded.) I'm not really into sports, but I do like tennis and soccer (I'm not very good, though) and aerobics, and when the weather is nice I love to go on long walks in the morning or evening. I'm about 5'6" tall and extremely overweight (really, my weight isn't as bad as it may sound, but if fat people are a turn-off for you, I'm sorry), with blond hair and green eyes.

I don't go to church (although I wish I did, and my family is currently searching for a church to attend) and I don't have a youth group, but I try to stay active as a Christian, especially online. I am a member of PACT (Power Alliance of Christian Teens), and I moderate several mailing loops through eGroups, most of them Christian and almost all of them for girls only. I am also a member of several other lists there. I am a Christian mentor, prayer partner, and chat-room evangelist through PACT. In the past I've sponsored a little girl in Mexico through Compassion International, and if you've never done this, I encourage you to try it. It's an awesome experience. I never thought that $24 a month could make such a difference in a child's life, or that the organization would even send the money to the child, but now I'm sold on the idea.

If you want to know about PACT or eGroups, or if you have any questions, comments, etc. about my page, me, my religion, or anything else you can think of, or if you just want to talk (pen pals are always welcome!!), or just to harrass me so I can report you to your webmaster, please write to me at JoyfulDaughter@yahoo.com. (I'm still using my other e-mail address, but I don't check it as often now as the new one.)

I don't have any pictures that I want to share with someone I don't know, and I DO NOT CYBER!! If you ask me if I will have cybersex, I will report you to the proper authorities and then add you to my block list. (Ask any of my friends, I've done it before.) If you just want to chat, my AOL Instant Messenger screen name is Jesus Loves Kate (or jesusloveskate--but not jesus_loves_kate), or JoyfulDaughter.

Anyway, that's more than enough about me! If you want to know anything else, just ask! Check back here often, because I'm always changing things and adding to it. A note about the search engines below: At the moment they only search Freeservers member pages, they don't seem to be able to find anything on my site.
